Joint
Contractures |

|
Joint contractures are common after trauma to the upper
extremity. Splinting is almost always beneficial for reducing contractures
as it supplements active and passive stretching by providing a low load,
prolonged stretch to the affected tissues. Immobilization of fractures
often leads to contracture formation. Once fractures have clinically healed,
the use of splinting can be an invaluable resource to assist with rehabilitation.
We can fabricate custom dynamic and static progressive splints for nearly
every type of contracture from the finger to the elbow, and provide patients
the necessary education wearing schedule and precautions to optimize increases
in ROM. |
